I think companies and other types of entities are very disingenuous about job postings. And the reason I say this is because I have anecdotal evidence from my own life where I know there are people who are qualified that are applying to jobs that are not getting hired. And I’m not talking about applying to 10 jobs.
I’m talking about dozens, if not over a hundred. And at some point. You start to ask what’s really going on here? And so I have this anecdotal evidence and I will say that I think service jobs Yes, if you want to work in a restaurant if you are trying to be a waiter, yes entry level jobs available but professional jobs the jobs that are more career, like they would be in the vein of a career.
No. And so what I think is happening, I think there are a few reasons that companies aren’t actually hiring, but they do have the jobs available. So they might, there might be a post for legal or compliance reasons. And this can be, even if the company knows that they’re hiring internally or that they’re looking for a certain demographic.
They’re yet, they still have to post this job and this is horrible because it’s just wasting people’s time when they know, when a company knows that they’re not going to hire someone or they’re not going like all of these applicants, like you just think about this is a common, this is going to be a common theme on this, on this channel is in the aggregate.
Think about how much time is wasted and it’s known it’s, it’s a known waste. Because these companies know ahead of time, but they’re, they’re not transparent about it, but they know ahead of time, these applicants never have a chance . Also, I like, I think that some companies like to pretend that they are growing and that they have growth and it looks good to have open positions on their website or possibly other job websites, like let’s say indeed or monster or whatever it is.
They want to look like they’re hiring because they, you know, it’s just, we’re just making so much money. We have so many customers, we can’t fulfill the demand. And I don’t think that’s the case at all. I think it’s actually just a, I think it’s just they want to put on a front that they are growing and they’re not.
And then I think there is, it’s, it’s all, it’s like a flyer, right? Like we’ll have, we’ll have this position open. And if somehow we land the perfect candidate, Who just lines up 10 of 10 and is willing to accept let’s say 50, 000 below their market value. Then we’ll hire them, which is also disingenuous.
And, and so really the problem here is people are pouring themselves into applying for these jobs and looking and looking and looking, and they’re spending literally weeks, if not months. Looking for jobs and then they get nothing in return for their efforts. And, and this is not only a waste of time, but it’s also a, a a huge burden, I think, and it affects their mental status and their emotions.
Because they’re putting in all this effort and the results are in people know you can’t you can’t lie to people about the results because we all fill them right we know when we have When what the feedback we’re getting and we can be nice about it We can say we just have to keep going or you know, maybe you were almost there or you got that second interview But what it’s telling what it’s signaling to people Is that?
They’re not qualified. They’re not good enough. And it really starts to affect people and mess with their emotions. And I think that is also a huge problem. So this is, this is something that is going on and it’s more of something that lays beneath the surface, but it’s also something that is affecting people on a wide scale.
And again, in the aggregate, a familiar theme. That will be with this channel in the aggregate. This is hurting people. This is devastating. Think about all of the time that is wasted. Think about what they could do, what all of these different people could be doing. To be productive and to be earning income and instead they are spending hours upon hours upon hours Looking for jobs and then if you want to know why you’re getting a a generic Applicant a generic resume or a generic cover letter Well, it’s because they have to, they have to, these people are sending out so many cover letters.
It’s, it’s just, they’re going through the motions at this point because after you’ve applied for a hundred jobs, then what are you supposed to do? Am I supposed to pour myself into every single job? And with, with the results being that, Oh, well, I’m not even going to get a call. I’m not even going to, I’m not even going to know that they even looked at my resume and my, and my cover letter.
So it’s just this, this scenario, this ongoing reality that has become accepted is is horrible. It is, it is devastating. And it, it goes beneath the surface. And you know, we’re, I think people are told to just keep applying, keep trying. And, and at some point it’s like, why? Why keep trying when I’m never, I’m never, like, I’m never going to get hired.
Nobody’s, nobody’s hired me in six months. Why would I keep going? This, it’s like, it’s, it’s after, at a certain point, it’s stupid to. And yet these companies keep posting the jobs. So instead of there being a legal requirement that they’re hiring or that they post these jobs, maybe there’s a legal requirement that they don’t post these jobs and don’t waste people’s time.
It’s such a waste of time and time is the most valuable resource and I think it’s horrible. I think it is so disgusting and, and we really, and these companies in the, the problem, the reason why I think it’s so revolting is because the companies know, they know if they’re hiring someone internally. They know if it can only be one demographic they’re looking for.
They know if they’re just putting out something, they’d have an unrealistic expectation, but they’re just, they’re just putting it out there anyway. And I think there needs to be a disclosure of that because otherwise what we have now is just so there, there are so many resources that are lost and it’s, it’s really affecting people.
I think mentally and emotionally, but then it’s also wasting their time.
