Subscriptions That End Access Immediately After Cancellation (Don’t Wait Until Next Billing Cycle)

I recently decided to cancel two subscriptions, but when I went to cancel, I found out that I would immediately lose access upon cancellation. And these weren’t discounted subscriptions. These weren’t free trials. This was a month to month subscription that I had been paying for. And yet, when I canceled, I would no longer have access despite having already paid.

for the full month. And so these were for these subscriptions were for bubble, which allows you to create applications without code knowledge and for sweet greens, sweet pass, which is basically like a rewards program that you buy into. So why, why is this the case? Well, there’s only one real reason that I can think that this would happen.

And this is to prevent what is called churn. This is to prevent the customer from canceling. The hope would be that you forget to cancel by the time that date comes at the end of the month, and then you renew once again. So it’s the delay game. It’s another obstacle in preventing you to cancel. And so one justification may be that this is done to reduce costs of resources, lower server capacity customers, customer support demands, et cetera.

But you’ve already paid for this, right? And so I really do think that absent extenuating circumstances. So. For security reasons or for some other reason, where the early cancellation is justified. This, this should be a breach of contract. And, you should not be able to disclaim this in the terms and conditions in the fine print.

This is something that you must let the customer know ahead of time. Because you’ve paid for that full subscription. And you should not be penalized because you choose to exercise. Your right to cancel. So I think this is. This is horrible behavior on the part of the companies.

And again, it happened to me with Bubble and Sweetgreen and it’s happened to me prior. But it usually is the exception. that this is the case. Most companies are reasonable and they provide access to the end of the billing cycle as long as long as you’ve paid in advance.

So but this has happened to me and I know it is a problem in other circumstances and I do think that this should be this should be a breach of contract.
